Wow what a week! ….without any sleep! This week has been a pretty special one with the Northern Lights in Iceland. I’ve had butterflies in my stomach during the day, a feeling that peaks when the sun starts to set. The reason for my uneasiness is that for 6 days straight now there have been strong Northern Lights over Iceland! Every night I have been driving outside of the city’s light-pollution to watch the spectacular show. The Northern Lights in Iceland Last Wednesday Reykjavík City finally picked up on this unusual Northern Lights activity, so they decided to turn off all the street lights in the city to make them more visible. This resulted in an unforgettable night. At 21.00 all the lights in the city were turned off and even the biggest roads in the city went pitch black. I was actually driving the moment they shut of the lights, it must have confused a few tourists trying to navigate the city. As I drove the highway I met an Asian tourist who was driving the same street in the wrong direction! HAHA….I could not help but laugh!
